Hi guys, I have tried everything I can think of but the S61 does not show up as a midi device. I've read everything I can, tried all driver and Komplete Kontrol versions, and am at my wits end. I thought before I return it to the shop I'd ask if anybody else had encountered this issue. I am really hoping it's some simple mistake on my part.

I've installed the latest drivers and Komplete Kontrol on two separate Windows 7x64pro machines and have the same problem. The keyboard is recognised by the Komplete Kontrol program in standalone mode so the browser works, knobs control mapped parameters, and even if I play the cells in battery with the mouse for example the lights flash on the corresponding notes on the keyboard. The controller editor also works in terms of mapping CCs and creating splits etc which are represented on the keyboard. The issue is that the following devices do not appear in the midi setting of Komplete Kontrol standalone, any of the Komplete instruments standalone or in cubase 7.5 midi devices. Komplete Kontrol - 1 Komplete Kontrol EXT -1 komplete Kontrol DAW -1 All I see is my RME Multiface midi input.

So basically it nearly all seems to work but the actual midi keyboard component isn't working. I also tried to update the firmware with the device updater however although KK is seeing the S61 the device updater doesn't so it's the one thing I couldn't try. Thanks in advance Erin. Thanks for your reply Sowari. Yeah I have uninstalled and installed many times and been very methodical with the process - power cycling after every install and update before connecting the S61.

I have then tried connecting the S61 before powering up, while the systems on, different USB cabled, and numerous USB ports on both the machines. I contacted support on the 2nd of December when I initially had issues installing the S61 and haven't heard back yet. Since then I have tried many more things including the second system so I have a bit more info for them. It's the first time I have used NI support as I only just bought Komplete Ultimate 10 and the S61, so should I contact them again with a new support ticket with the new info, or wait until they get back to me?

I have also contacted local support and they have asked I take it back to the shop and test it on their working system there. They have Macs so I guess it will be a good test to see whether its a Windows issue. I'll try this tomorrow. When I first tried installing the S61 on my first system on the 2nd Dec, it wouldn't install a couple of the USB device components and they kept failing, namely the KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 DFU KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 IAD However it would install HID-compiant device USB Composite device USB input device After uninstalling everything while cleaning out the registry of all Komplete Kontrol traces I noticed that my Steinberg CC121 controller was referenced in the Komplete Kontrol registry folder. This made me think it may have got confused and tried to install the CC121 when I rebooted the computer after the driver installation. I uninstalled the CC121 and tried again, however this time one of my USB hubs suddenly stopped working.

So I started to suspect that KK was trying to install whatever other USB device that happened to be plugged into the computer while rebooting after the the driver installation. I then tried a full unistallation/registery clean out and installed without any USB devices plugged into the system other tham a mouse and keyboard.

It finally managed to install the KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 DFU, but it still won't install KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 IAD. This is when I tried the second system, completely free of any other USB devices other than the mouse.

It did actually install all the device components on this machine, however the midi devices still don't appear. I think there is definitely an issue with the drivers in the s61 and possibly the other iterations of this device. I can't help you as im just as stuck but i have very similar issue on my windows pc and cubase.

It involves track focus and i am sure its the drivers that keep failing after so long when connected to cubase. I have had to reinstall many times just to get cubase to see the keyboard.

The keyboard would work for so long and then just fail. I've seen others on here with the same problem.

The drivers you list above KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 DFU KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 IAD Failed on my pc and i had re install for Maschine Studio which i bought a few days ago. I wasn't able to play sounds only navigate. I know my issues aren't exactly the same as yours but they still involve those 2 drivers. I contacted support and all they did was refer me to their knowledge base article on how to set the keyboard up as a controller for cubase. No help at all. I'm not sure whether the drivers should be installed with the KK software to be honest, only on their own through the support area.

I've yet to try it again with cubase since installing them seperately. I can't believe how annoying it is to spend this sort of money and not have it work how it should. I nearly sent it back but i decided to buy the Maschine Studio as i knew the s61 must work with it.

So far so good. NI have taken alot of money from me recently. I pray it all works properly soon I hope you get yours sorted. Hi Subsonic, Thanks heaps for chiming in - hearing your story is beginning to confirm my suspicions that the PC drivers have some issues. I have used many different USB keyboards/controllers on my system without issues - V-synth, Korg Nano, MAudio Oxygen 8, APC40 etc.

They literally just work once installed. It does concern my that even though you managed to get your midi keyboard component working, it has been unreliable and failing. If there isn't a simple explanation as to why it doesn't just work as it should I think I might be taking it back and getting another midi keyboard, as I can't deal with anymore downtime on this (it's been about a day and a half of wasted time trying to make it work). A real shame as the integration and actual keyboard looks awesome, I just wish it would work! Missouri Drivers License Issue Date Conversion Chart. I'll keep this thread updated on any further developments, and once I hear from support. It was so frustrating i stopped wanting to actually turn it all on as i knew it would fail.

Like you i too have used other midi keyboards/controllers and have had no issue. I've only just recently got back in to producing so this wasn't the best thing to happen as it put me totally off making music. Before i decided to get the Maschine Studio i was going to sell the keyboardand get something else but kept it because of the intergration with Maschine and also hopefully NI will sort this issue out. I still want to use it with Cubase. I'll keep an eye on this thread for updates. Nothing worse than technical issues like this killing workflow and creativity - it's been happening to me for the last few days too.

I'm hoping it's a hardware issue, but if it works on a Mac system in the shop tomorrow, I think I'll be returning it as I can see this is probably going to end up being a long road of pain and anguish! Ah well, at least the KK software still works without it I guess. Nano Energy Booster Patch Therapy For Eyes. Hopefully I'll hear from support soon and they'll have answers that I can pass on. Hi, it's definitely not a Windows issue, but maybe a problem with the S61. It seems to have definitely more issues than the S49, when I browse through this forum.

Maybe it helps, if you do, what I did: I got my S49 earlier than my Ultimate package, so I installed only the USB driver for non KOMPLETE users to try out the keyboard in Reaper. This might make a difference, because when I installed Ultimate, I noticed that KOMPLETE also installed a USB driver. So it might be worth a try to uninstall everything and install the keyboard USB driver before installing KOMPLETE.

I hope that helps. If not, it seems to be a pure S61 issue. Hi Aymara, Thanks for your ideas on this - that's something I haven't tried yet and Subsonicwave mentioned a similar thing so I'll definitely try it out. From memory, every time I have installed the drivers it has been initially from the Komplete Kontrol installer.

Although subsequent updates have been individual via the service centre, I'll try wiping the lot and start from scratch with just the driver. Fingers crossed! It does give me some hope that I might still be able to sort this out.

It really is such awesome integration and the light guide will help me in a massive way in terms of composition with my Kontakt libraries. Only issue is that I need 61 keys at a minimum for what I do so I hope the S61 can work properly. I'll report back on how I go. Thanks to all you guys for spending the time giving me your thoughts on this, greatly appreciated. Hi Erin, from your explanation I have a further guess. Might it be, that your driver didn't get updated through Service Center? I noticed, that the driver update gets stuck in SC, which was also reported in the forum.

So who knows, if it gets installed correctly by SC. Maybe it helps to just do a manual driver update to the latest version? If not, I hope my first thought to start from scratch with the USB driver first will help. I really love this keyboard and it's KOMPLETE integration, so I hope, you can enjoy it soon too. Hey guys, I tried it on both machines without any luck.

Still no midi keyboard showing up. I uninstalled KK, the driver and the Controller Editor, deleted any traces from the registry, rebooted, installed the driver cleanly without any other usb devices plugged in other than a mouse/keyboard, rebooted, plugged it in and it's still the same. I also tried doing all this on the second system after uninstalling all of Komplete Ultimate 10 and the Service Centre so that there was no NI software to start with. Still no luck. I even tried using the Korg midi driver utility to clean out all midi usb drivers in case of conflicts. One strange thing is that after I did this and installed the S61 driver and ran the Korg Midi utility again, it didn't show any driver from the S61 - only my RME midi drivers which were the only ones left after I wiped everything else. So it seems like the driver just isn't installing at all on either machine.

I am also finding that on my main system, the KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 IAD driver isn't installing while on my backup system it is. It's been like this the whole time but even so, the S61 still won't appear on either. I guess that's it then, back to the shop to see if they can get it to work. I don't think I've ever had this much grief with a piece of gear before. I still haven't heard anything from NI support yet, but I'll keep this thread updated. Thanks again for all your help on this, much appreciated. Ok, so i think i might have this sorted.

Almost I mentioned before that i thought the s61 drivers needed to be installed seperately from the Komplete Kontrol software(as did Aymara) as for some reason the software and drivers together were causing some kind of conflict. These were the two i found were failing; KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 DFU KOMPLETE KONTROL S61 IAD I couldn't find a way of installing the KK software on its own without the installation of the s61 drivers so i did a fresh install of the software and drivers. Then uninstalled the s61 drivers, went into the ni drivers page and downloaded the s61 drivers on their own.

I know Erin's problem is slightly different to mine but i think this might help as it involves the same drivers that are failing. The only thing i have noticed is when navigating tracks in my Daw(Cubase 7.5) using the s61 it doesn't always scroll to every Komplete Kontrol track, i have to use my mouse to focus on a track instead. But the keyboard still focuses.

If this indeed is the reason why alot of people are having difficulties then i think NI need to address this and maybe put a post up. Let me know how you guys get on Cheers.

Always run the installer with the keyboard powered off or detached. Reboot your computer after install and connect/power on your keyboard only after the OS finishes booting. This is required for any new driver to be installed correct under Windows.

If you still have issues, I read a similar issue with Maschine where a user ran up against a limit to the amount of midi drivers in Windows and had to remove a couple drivers from registry. Thought that was only for XP and solved with Win 7 but user said that solved it so maybe something to look into. There was a similar issue with Maschine that could happen if you had your HD formatted to be case sensitive. Keep in mind that service center does not have a way of detecting if a driver is present on your system the way it can tell if a NI application is installed. Therefore the Driver and content section will always show the latest driver available rather it is already installed or not.

Hi guys, I have an update - I took the S61 back to the shop yesterday and it worked straight away on the Mac there. So this is definitely something going on with the driver installation on Windows 7 64 Pro (on both pro-audio machines I have). As I mentioned, I have tried everything suggested and everything I could think of so I'm not really sure what to do now. The keyboard is sitting in the shop now and I'm waiting to hear back from the NI rep here in Australia.

I haven't heard anything from support yet so I'm not sure what's happening as it's been 10 days (it's the first time I have used the support service so I'm not sure if it's usually a couple of weeks) Anyway, hopefully the Australian rep might have some ideas on how to get it to work on PC as I really want this to work!! Anyway back to using the V-synth as a midi controller for the time being I'll let you know of any developments.
